Polycystic ovary syndrome is
also popular as PCOS and is actually an endocrine
disorder that affects a number of women in the
reproductive age group of 12 to 45 years. The hormonal
imbalance is common with women from various
nationalities and races. This condition is also known by
the name of ovarian hyperthecosis, functional ovarian
hyperandrogenism, sclerocystic ovary syndrome and
Stein-Leventhal syndrome.
Health issues such as
anovulation, acne, obesity, and effects of male hormones
are evident in the patients when they are affected. The
PCOS syndrome must be treated effectively owing to the
fact that it is a major cause for infertility among
women.
The exact cause for the condition
is not known, but it's true that in women with PCOS, the ovaries produce high levels
of androgens. This results in interference with the
development of eggs and their release. What happens is
that, some of the eggs develop into ovarian cysts -
these cysts are fluid-filled sacs. The cysts keep
developing in the ovaries and there is a chance to get
enlarged. This is a deviation from the normal
menstruation cycle where the eggs are released during
ovulation. Irregular periods
happen due to the women not ovulating every month.
The condition must be treated
so as to remove chances of infertility and other health
problems. The condition cannot be cured, but it can be
treated successfully. If you are suffering from the
ovarian cyst syndrome or from PCOS, you should try
holistic remedies as these go to the root of the problem
and treat the condition. Conventional medications on the
other hand just treat the symptoms, and so, the cysts
often return.
