Polycystic ovary syndrome
PCOS is a hormonal abnormality that affects women in the
age group of 12 to 45 years. And since there are
thousands of women who fall into this category, the PCOS
problem is among the most widespread diseases in the
world. The PCOS syndrome happens when a woman develops
many cysts in her ovaries, and when this happens, she is
unable to ovulate - this can of course make her
infertile. Such a condition can lead to irregular
periods, infertility and even in some cases result in
ovarian cyst cancer.
The PCOS disease is also
commonly referred to as the Stein-Leventhal Syndrome and
the Functional Ovarian Hyperandrogenism. In some cases,
females too produce the male hormone androgen. However,
when its level increases abnormally, it deters ovulation
and this helps in the development of cysts in the
ovaries. There are many other contributing factors as
well like genetic predisposition, poor dietary choices,
a weakened immune system, accumulation of toxins in the
digestive tract (including environmental toxins) and
insulin resistance and obesity.
Watch out for the early symptoms of
PCOS. You can have them too because thousands of females
become a victim. Some of the most common symptoms
include pain in the abdomen
or the lower
pelvic region. The pain might also be there in the back.
An irregular menstrual period is another symptom of
ovarian cyst.
If you show these symptoms, it could
be PCOS. Go to a doctor and get it diagnosed and ask for
treatment. It is however best to seek holistic remedies
that treat the various root causes, and not just the
symptoms like the conventional approach. Holistic
remedies work much better than the other
approaches.
