Translated to a disease form,
Ovarian
Polycystic tantamount the Polycystic ovary disease,
Functional ovarian
hyperandrogenism, Hyperandrogenic chronic
anovulation, ovarian
dysmetabolic syndrome, Polycystic
ovarian syndrome
and Stein-Leventhal syndrome. In
whatever name you may call it, the whole thing boils
down to a very common hormonal disorder among women who
are in the reproductive age group. And this can often
also cause infertility.
As
a syndrome, it was first reported by Drs. Stein and
Leventhal way back in 1935 as they conducted studies on
groups of women who were suffering from amenorrhea,
infertility, hirsutism and enlarged polycystic ovaries. The doctors
found that the ovaries and adrenal glands of these women
were producing more testosterone and lesser estrogen and
progesterone
than what was
normal. This imbalance, they concluded, was responsible
for most of the symptoms. Scientists however, have later
found that these women could have also been suffering
from potential metabolic disorders that could be linked
with type-2 diabetes and cardiovascular
issues.
However, the core of the matter rests with the
fact that follicles that function as basic units of
female reproductive biology are usually round in shape
and contain one egg, while the normal ovarian volume
in menstruating females vary from 5 to 15 ml. But in polycystic
ovaries, the organs become enlarged, having a bulky
scarred capsule with innumerable
follicles.
In
fact, the term 'polycystic' have been derived from this
condition. Also, as the follicle enlarges in dimension
(larger than 2 cm), it turns itself into a cyst. The
ovaries become unable to produce hormones that are
necessary for the egg to mature, and it cannot get
released from the follicle, thus turning into
cysts.
The only recourse left before the
suffering woman is to seek holistic remedies for cyst
treatment. Natural PCOS treatments and even conventional
solutions will not work, because they just treat the
symptoms and not the root causes. Holistic remedies
treat the contributing factors, and are thus the most
effective treatment.
