The ovaries are very important for any female because they let her become pregnant and have a baby. But the ovaries can be home to the ovarian cyst syndrome , and though they are quite harmless often, in some cases, that might not be the case. In a few rare cases, there can be ovarian cyst cancer.
These cases are however quite rare and are seen in women usually when they are in their 50's. Normally, there is no pain, except in those cases where the growth becomes too large. The cancer starts at the cell. Normally, cell division takes place as the old cells die and new cells come up in their places. However sometimes, new cells come up even when they are not needed, and the old cells do not die. The result is, extra cells in the body, and they form the tumor, which is called cancer. But do note that there can two kinds of tumors - benign and malignant. Benign tumors are not cancerous, but malignant ones are.
Though ovarian cysts are also growths within the ovary, these cannot be said to be cancerous. In most cases, the ovarian cyst syndrome does not cause any problems, but sometimes they do, particularly in cases of a complicated ovarian cyst.
