Ovarian cysts surgery
is indicated only when ovarian growth or masses are
present in both the ovaries, the cyst appears to be
larger than 3 inches, and when they refuse to shrink or
go away even after two to three menstrual cycles.
Surgery is also recommended when the ultrasound report
suggests that the cyst is not
functional.
Ovarian cysts surgery
may be performed in the following three
manners:
·
Laparoscopy
·
Laparotomy
·
Open surgery
Of these
three, the first two surgical modes are also applied for
diagnostic purposes as also to determine if other
complications like adhesions, fibroids, etc. are causing
the pain and related
discomforts.
In Laparoscopic surgery
, small incisions are made just
below the navel and the Laparoscope is inserted into the
abdomen through it. Carbon Dioxide gas is thereafter
pumped into the abdominal cavity, and this helps the
surgeon see the organs clearly. A few additional holes
are then made in the abdomen through which the
Laparoscopic instruments are inserted. The affected
cysts are then carefully removed, and the holes are
finally sealed with sterilized gauge or self-sealing
compounds. Of course, general anesthesia is used for
performing the surgery.
Laparotomy,
on the other hand is a far more complex type of surgery
that takes more time as well as more technical
competence.
In open
surgery, also done under general anesthesia, an incision
is made in the abdomen, ovaries are located and the
cysts removed manually. If cancer is suspected, both the
ovaries are removed in the
process.
However, the fact is, patients
opting for any of the above surgeries run the risk of
the cysts reappearing even after the surgery. This is
because the underlying reasons why the ovarian cyst syndrome
affected the person remain. This is where
holistic remedies can help. The holistic method of
treatment addresses at the root cause of the disease and
resolves the issue once for all. Thus, the cyst never
returns. Holistic remedies offer the best cyst
treatment.
